This pouch is inspired by the Celtic Tree of Life (Crann Bethadh), and ancient Celtic knot designs. Trees were held as very sacred to the Celtic and Druid communities. Trees are ancient beings that absorb their environment, they are beautiful giants that connect the earth to the sky, they offer shelter and are home to many creatures. The meaning of the Celtic Tree of Life symbol is often disputed. Commonly it seen as a symbol of harmony, protection, community and the eternal life cycle of birth, death and reincarnation.
I hand printed these taffeta pouches with a hand carved Celtic tree stamp on my etching press. I finished the pouches with red, black and teal poly-satin ribbon, clear plastic beads and metal knotwork charms. The pouches are lined with black poly-satin.
