“Earth Diver Beetle” was originally created in 2016 by Imogen Smid using Ecoline (liquid watercolour) and fineliner. It was inspired by the use of beetles as a symbol of creation throughout different cultures. The piece was inspired by creation myths from Ancient Egypt, The Indian Tribe of Garo, the Native American Cherokee Tribe and the Chaco Tribe of South America.
The illustration was originally created to accompany a blog post on “Creation in the form of Beetles“.
